Post 7 October Support

JFS

The AJA has provided funding to help JFS students and staff in distress. The support will ensure ongoing supervision for designated safeguarding leads, who are at the forefront of helping students who are struggling and those dealing with difficult issues, over the next three years.

The monthly safeguarding sessions will give JFS safeguarding leads and managers a chance to reflect, share their experiences and think about how best to respond to pupils. In addition they will enhance their ability to help students, and ensure they themselves are looked after and able to process everything they are dealing with.

JCoSS and PaJeS

The AJA is also supporting JCoSS and PaJeS counselling projects for pupils and teachers.

They believe they can play a decisive role in helping students and staff to deal with the aftermath of the attacks and the current situation, by providing counselling opportunities, and that it is vital they act now to support Jewish schools and children at this time and throughout this crisis.

Subsidies for Rabbinical Visits to Israel

The AJA is providing subsidies for rabbinical visits to Israel for ‘religious or educational’ purposes, in order to strengthen UK communities’ ties to the Jewish state.

British rabbis have the opportunity to benefit from educational trips to Israel in order to improve their understanding and experience of the country. This will result in communities across the UK benefitting from their rabbi’s increased attachment to and knowledge of the Jewish homeland.

Each rabbi will be required to study some aspect of Israel’s history or present-day culture or politics. They must also attempt to meet philosophical, community or cultural leaders to help them carry out their duties more effectively upon their return to Britain.

Sponsors of the inaugural parents’ Charity Football match with Clore Tikva School and Wohl Ilford Jewish Primary

The AJA were the gold sponsors for the inaugural parents’ charity football match with Clore Tikva School and Wohl Ilford Jewish Primary on 9th June 2024.

This was both schools’ first parents’ charity football match, with events such as these bringing communities together and highlighting the importance of supporting local charitable causes.

The AJA are proud to stand alongside these institutions in their efforts to make a positive impact in their community.

Additional Activity

Additional activity over the past year includes sponsoring microgrants for Limmud Festival, the UK’s biggest celebration of Jewish life and learning. The event is the UK Jewish community’s largest cross-communal intergenerational celebration of Jewish learning, culture and community.

Limmud is an ambitious and passionate organisation with a global reputation for creating events with a lively approach to Jewish learning. The UK event is a model and inspiration for over 80 Limmud communities across the world and has pioneered and evolved a unique model of cross-communal Jewish learning.

SUPPORTING THE ANGLO-JEWISH ASSOCIATION

The AJA is a UK registered charity and relies on individual benefactors. Their generosity enables students an opportunity to continue their education.
